For Joy Bell

Her children stand and bless her.
      Her husband praises her:
 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
      but you surpass them all!”

 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
      but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
 Reward her for all she has done.
      Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.  -Proverbs 31:28-31 (NLT)

Back when the above picture was made, she was Joyce Estelle Hall.  Later she became Joyce Hall Williams.  Later still she became known as Eddie’s Mom.  Many who know her most intimately also know her as Joy Bell!  I think that’s accurate, because the joy she brings to me and to others is as clear as the ringing of a bell.

Here’s why she brings me such joy.  Because the love she has always shown to me as her son is the best example of the agape love of God that I have ever known.  When nobody else was there, she was.  When I could not find friends, she always was one.  At my best, Mom was there and at my worst.  During my happiest times she shared the laughs with me, and in the hardest and darkest of days, she was there sharing the tears, comforting and encouraging me.  Even when I had no love for myself, I was never without hers.  She has always believed in me when there was no reason for anyone to believe.  There has never been anything that she has owned that she would withhold from me.  Without knowing the type of unconditional love that my mother has shown to me, I’m not sure I could have any reasonable concept of the same kind of love that my Savior gives.

Today is Mother’s Day!  I extend special prayers and blessings to all you Moms out there.  I honor you all today, and appreciate you more than I ever would be able to, mainly because I am able to honor gratefully and love especially my own Mother….

I LOVE YOU JOY BELL!  I LOVE YOU LORD FOR ALLOWING HER TO BE MY MOM!

    I love the pic too Patrick. She was about 14-15. It’s striking how much Sarrah favors her grandmother at the same age.
